Lewandowski sees great potential in Barcelona prodigy

Tuesday, January 17, 2023

Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo has put out an insightful story regarding Gavi and how he is perceived in the Barcelona camp.

The youngster, who recently starred for Barcelona during their 3-1 win over Real Madrid in the Supercopa de Espana final, has become the talk of the town this week.

But while he has shown a lot of maturity on the pitch, his behavior off the pitch is said to be quite the opposite.

Regarded as one of the best young prospects to have come through the La Masia ranks in recent years, Gavi has made rapid strides over the past 18 months.

And summer signing Robert Lewandowski has been impressed by the 18-year-old.

As per the report, the legendary striker has always rated the young midfielder ever since he joined Barcelona in the summer and sees massive potential in the 18-year-old.

The Pole was always intrigued by the player’s determination and his commitment to run after every ball.

The relationship between the two players has been very close throughout the season so far.

It is said that Lewandowski has even approached Gavi and offered him three pieces of advice.

He notably asked Gavi to follow a balanced diet and avoid carbonated drinks.

The former Bayern Munich superstar also advised the young Spaniard to learn English, presumably knowing that the player would be destined for great things and attract worldwide attention.

Earlier in the season, Gavi was awarded the Golden Boy ahead of the likes of Jude Bellingham and Jamal Musiala.

Even before the Supercopa final, Lewandowski had revealed that he had approached Gavi and given him some advice.

“Before the match, I told Gavi to stay close to me. I knew that we could do good things together,” he revealed after the game.

It turns out Lewandowski’s words to Gavi bore fruit for the youngster and for Barcelona, as the Spaniard emerged as the best performer in the final.

Gavi was indeed a major catalyst behind Barcelona’s 3-1 victory over Real Madrid. The 18-year-old notably scored the opener in the tie while setting up Lewandowski and Pedri’s goals.

The Pole himself was the creator of Gavi’s opener, and their overall combination play was one of the major reasons behind Real Madrid’s loss.

It is good to see an iconic footballer like Lewandowski take Gavi under his wing and equip him with the tools necessary to achieve greatness in the game.
